A WOMAN OF STRENGTH

Mary S. Villalobos

October 7, 1938 + January 27. 2005

On October 7, 1938, Philip and Lola Villalobos gave birth to their 12th child, Mary. Mary grew up in Watts, California, where she attended 111th Street Elementary and David Starr Jordan High School. On August 2, 1960, Mary had her first daughter Donna. On July 31, 1966 her second daughter Anna was born, on on August 29, 1967, she gave birth to Sophia.

Mary continued to live in Watts and raised her daughters alone. Working as a nurse's assistant in a convalescent home and baby sitting for neighbors gave Mary the time she needed to be with her girls.

In 1985, Mary became diabetic and her health began to take a turn for the worse. In 1987, her kidneys failed and on January 27, 2005, Mary's body had enough and she entered Heaven, leaving behind her daughters, Donna, Anna and Sophia; 4 grandchildren, Deniece, Michael, Denae and Anthony; and 2 great grandchildren, Faith Marie and John Nicolas

Mary's family and friends will gather on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM to visit and share precious memories with each other. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at 9:00 AM at St. Lawrence Brindisi Catholic Church, 10122 Compton Blvd., Los Angeles, CA after which she will be lovingly laid to rest at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA

Thank You

Mom,
You have gone and left me. I got to say
"I love you", Mom, but I didn't say Thank you. . .
Thank you for loving me!
Thank you for having faith in me.
Thank you for instilling self respect in me.
Thank you for not being a woman of greed.
Thank you for giving me strength.
Thank you for demanding discipline.
Thank you for making me the woman I am today.
Thank you!
Anna

Another Day, Mother

Another day, Mother, I'll see your face
and feel your warm embrace.

Another day, Mother, we'll sit and talk
about yesterdays, yesterdays

Another day, Mother, we'll laugh at the funny things

Another day, Mother, I'll cry and long to have you near, for there will be may days when I'll be lonely and cry because you're not here.

Those of you who knew our mother, knew a woman who kept to herself. Let us share with you, who our mother was. Our mother did not attend many family functions to avoid gossip.

Our mother always told us "If someone made a mistake pray they do better next time."

We were not allowed to talk bad about anyone, if we did we were told to shut up! and don't say anything.

Our mother told us it is better to stay away from the people who talk bad about you and let their lies catch up with them.

So when you view this page, look at the woman who kept to herself to raise strong women.

For our strength was instilled in us, by a woman who truley loved us.

A life of sacrifice to us something we could hold on to.

Memories of a woman who wouldn't give up and a lifetime of memories.

For the people that judged my grandma and our family.

Romans 14:10
You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God's judgment seat.
